As consumers embrace technology increasingly into their homes, these devices work together to provide a holistic experience for users, improving their daily lives.
At the same time, IoT provides multitudes of data that can be harvested to increase safety and security of people's homes. IoT can alert the authorities when there is an accident or fire at home, instead of much later when flames are shooting out of the window or when it is already too late.
According to the UK government, there were 27,166 dwelling fires in the year ending March 2022. While it is not practicable to install sprinklers in every home, a device that quickly detects a fire based on heat signatures that exceed 100 degree Celsius will immediately take a snapshot and send this to the owner's mobile phone, so that they can make a decision whether to call for assistance.
